Every
vehicle must be equipped with a first aid emergency kit, but also with a
warning triangle, a reflective vest and a fire extinguisher. When a car
accident occurs, you have to stop immediately on the left side of the road and
to start the hazard warning flashes. After that you check if the passengers are
injured and you call 999 or 112. Then, you have to put flags on the road, at a
distance of at least 30 meters, informing the other drivers that an accident
has occurred.
Then,
you go back to the eventually injured passengers and, if one of them is
bleeding profusely, you have to stop the bleeding. Press with the hand (or with
one finger) directly on the wound, for 15 minutes. That will stop the bleeding.
Any
injury that occurs in the spine may lead to paralysis, so, when providing first
aid, it is very important to move as little as you can (or not to move at all)
the victim’s spine. The head will not be turned to one side or rotated.
If
a passenger suffered burns, do not remove the burned closes from his body! You
have just to cover it with clean materials, to pour cold water and to clean
easily the burnt skin.
If your car, or other car that was involved in a accident are not working any more, the police or you should call for a car recovery company or breakdown car recovery company to recovery the broken car/cars.
