Drive Safely in Fog

Winter is the most difficult period for driving, and the main reasons are fog, precipitation and temperatures alternating. The biggest risks are related to the lack of visibility and the false confidence in our ability to see and" manage different situations.

So, we offer you some tips that will help you to drive safely in fog:

• first of all, be aware of local weather conditions and simply avoid to drive when is fog – often, a morning or evening phenomenon. Of course, this is not always possible.

• observe safe distance from the car in front of you.

• use the right lighting systems (fog lights or driving lights, if equipped). Many cars have fog or driving lights installed at the factory, which are usually mounted low, in or below the front bumper. Fog lights are designed so that the light beam generated does not create, in contact with fog, a „light barrier“.

• adapt the speed to the visibility conditions; never speed to get out of the fog!

• the lack of visibility leads to hyper focus and the driver fatigue more quickly. It is therefore recommended that the breaks are more frequent than normal.

• ask the other passengers to keep an eye out for oncoming cars and obstacles on the road

• If you have no visibility and it gets too difficult to drive, pull over and just wait.
