British Drivers at Australian Grand-Prix: Button 4th, Chilton 14th, Hamilton dropped-out

German Nico Rosberg, from Mercedes, won Sunday's Australian Grand Prix, the first stage of the Formula 1 Championship 2015, while fellow Briton Lewis Hamilton and quadruple world champion German Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) dropped out after only four, namely five laps.

Jenson Button, from McLaren-Mercedes, was fourth, while his fellow, Magnussen, has exceeded all expectations in his first race in Formula 1 and managed to catch the last step of the podium. So, Button and Magnussen transformed McLaren in the first leader of the season, in Constructors’ Championship.

After the race, Button declared: „ It was a great drive by Kevin today - I had a lot of fun chasing him and Daniel down at the end of the race, but my tyres were several laps older than theirs, so it was always going to be tricky. Still, I had a good race - the car’s balance wasn’t quite right when I was in traffic - I struggled with understeer when I was behind people - but the car worked very well in clear air“.

Hamilton said, at the press conference, that for him it was obvious immediately after the start that something was wrong. He wanted to keep going, but the team recommended him to play safe, save the engine, and he dropped out.

Max Chilton, from Marussia, was 14th. He said that, for the moment, he and his team have to be pleased with a two-car finish and his 14th place at the first race of the season.
